Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) is ranked in the top 35 largest school districts in the U.S. serving nearly one-third of the New Mexico students. Dr. Tom Ryan, the CIO of APS approached Innovate+Educate to partner on a truly transformative school model, Education 360. Innovate+Educate has formed a separate non-profit for this model and is working closely with Dr. Ryan to develop a model that can be scaled both in New Mexico and across the country. Education 360 transforms key elements of education including teacher pay, seat time, age of student and progression, curriculum available, union contracts, and role of a district. APS is opening several schools in the fall of 2010 with this model. Technology is a key driver in this transformation which will utilize funding from a recently passed $120 million bond issue for technology. Innovate+Educate will provide leadership in developing this model and a business plan for scaling it.

• Given the right resources and support all students learn.
• The current educational system has barriers that hinder student success and limit educator opportunities to teach, which must be removed so all students can thrive.
• All students and families have the right to high quality teachers, content and a comprehensive array of classes.
• An environment that engages families, communities, and, businesses as key partners is essential to student success and academic achievement.
