USA Funds and Innovate+Educate honor 12 companies expanding education solutions and employment opportunities at a reception held in concert with 2016 ASU GSV Summit this week in California
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (April 19, 2016) – Innovate+Educate, in collaboration with USA Funds, today announced that the 12 winners from The 2015 Close It Summit Employment Tech Explosion will be recognized tonight (Tuesday) at a special reception hosted with partners from the 2016 ASU GSV Summit happening this week in San Diego.
Innovate+Educate CEO Jamai Blivin commented that working with USA Funds at The 2015 Close It Summit to launch the Employment Tech Explosion was timely as the growth in employment technologies has exploded over the last year.
“As a national nonprofit focusing on new employment pathways, we applaud the 2015 winners for their innovations and look forward to recognizing even more companies this year at The 2016 Close It Summit in Dallas,” said Blivin. “The need for fast-tracking pathways for candidates to receive skills, credentials and connecting them to employment opportunities has never been greater.”
Fifty companies showcased their employment technologies during the 2015 event on Oct. 3-5 in Washington, D.C. Of those participants, 12 were selected and each received one complimentary registration to the ASU GSV Summit along with special recognition during tonight’s reception. The 12 companies included: Credly; Kuepa; eIntern; Launchcode; SkillSmart; LaborX; BraveNew.com; Mentored; Sliderule; Coursera; PAIRIN, Inc.; and Flat World Education, Inc. USA Funds was the lead partner with Innovate+Educate to showcase these technologies.
“Innovation in the employment technology space can help address the widening skills gap as a new hiring economy looks for ways to attract talent to jobs and careers that are only just emerging,” said Alison Griffin, USA Funds senior vice president, external and government relations. “Consistent with our focus on Completion With a Purpose, to promote student success in college and careers, USA Funds is pleased to highlight the work of these firms, which are forging bold new pathways to employment and training.”
The goal of The Close It Summit is to accelerate the national adoption of competency-based solutions in hiring and training, with a focus on innovative technologies disrupting the transition from education to employment. The 2015 Employment Tech Explosion brought a bold, new energy to the marketplace as the best solutions to employers across the country were elevated with the program.
The 2016 Close It Summit will be hosted by Innovate+Educate on Oct. 4-6 at the Dallas Hyatt Regency Reunion Tower in Texas. This year's theme is Shift Happens: No Turning Back, focusing on competency-based education, employee training and the shift in hiring practices for employers. The preliminary program has been announced, and online registration is open. Proposals for presenters are being accepted through June 30. Keep up with event information at @CloseItSummit.
